Playhouse Style: Kattywhompas

Kattywhompas playhouses are inspired by cartoons. These playhouses could even be considered characters themselves, defying gravity as they lean or twist. Crazy angles add to their fun playful personality. Because cartoons are often drawn in 2-D, shape and geometry become very important. The playhouse acts as a canvas for bold graphic surface pattern. Details are also graphic in style. Trim work often acts as an outline for the brightly painted flat wall surfaces.

The fun playhouse above was designed for the Little Houses on Parade fundraiser in Denver. I found this image years ago and unfortunately don't have a link to it anymore.
